chess sites, I am building a links page on my website, , does anybody have any suggestions as to other sites I should add?
zdrak 26 ( +1 | -1 )
First, I suggest you group them by cathegories:

- "Real time" play sites (ICC, FICS,, etc)
- "Correspondence" play sites (GK, IYT, Playchess.De, Brainking, etc)
- News (TWIC, Chesscafe, etc)
- Educational (Novice Nook, etc)
- Tournaments
- Puzzles and problems
- Variants

Collections Listing of where one can go for game collections is always appreciated I think...

Okay, here are some links for you: - Exeter Chess Club, tons of educational material. - An interactive chess openings network. - You probably know this, online games database. - Chess articles and news, also the home of Fritz & Co. - Novice Nook, some great articles there.

Not a lot, but hey, it's all I can think of right now. Hope it helps!

soooo don't tell me I have all the best chess sites on the web already!
nelsonnewman 45 ( +1 | -1 )
Hi Tulkos, If you visit my site again, go to the bottom of the
main screen after you log in..

You will see a link there for chess sites, which I have categorized.. there are a large number of them there.. too numerous to name here...feel free to visit them (they open a separate window), and see if you want to add them to your site.. By the way, if you dont mind, I would like to add your site to my links collection.. is that ok?

tulkos 7 ( +1 | -1 )
Sure! go right ahead! my first link from another site--- my, I'm getting up in the world!
tovmauzer 4 ( +1 | -1 )
Nelson Very nice and useful site!
nelsonnewman 70 ( +1 | -1 )
Tulkos, the more we share, the more visitors we will both get!

Tovmauzer, thank you for the kind words.. of course, the site is not completed yet ... I want to add more recent chess files (200-2003), and I am thinking seriously of offering the files in PGN format as well as Chessbase format. As of now, they are mostly chessbase.

I do think, though, that I have a good framework to build on.. its a lot more work than I first thought when I started.. it only makes me appreciate all the more the great work Mike has done here at Gameknot.

I don't like your interface very much. I think you should use some indentation to make your list much more clear and easier to navigate through. It could easily be done by using tables. I think table are better than using a 'diffinition list'. Also if you could give a list of the link group topics at the beginning of your links page and create a link to the actual list it would be much better and easier to navigate through.
tulkos 7 ( +1 | -1 )
could you be more explicate? or give an example? I'm not sure what you mean by indentation and tables.
metaphoriceagle 53 ( +1 | -1 )
lol ok! sorry to confuse you!

When I visited your site I found it a bit hard to find my way around. That's why I suggested using table to organise your data.

I have made a very "very" simple example which you could consided looking at. If you liked it, no worries, but if you didn't, just ignore what I said! ;)

here is the link:

(do not rewrite. just coppy and paste it into your address bar)

tulkos 3 ( +1 | -1 )
alright. thankyou very much. ;-)

Nalimov Tablebase Server

Unorthodox Openings

A server that annotates your chess games

I have tons more, but these are the ones that seem to have great value.

Your welcome! and here's a site that I found really useful.

It has got 365 lessons and are on openning, middle game, end game, puzzles, and stuff like that!
