I subscribed First off the url is www.improve-yourchess.com There are 3 levels:beginner, intermediate,& advanced. I subscribed and logged into the advanced section. There's an exercise area of 10 problems per workout(tactical problems-find the next move.) The problems are timed. So far I've completed 4 "test" or groups of workouts. However when I go there now it says I've completed all the workouts. To be honest I think they're offering 4 tests/month which is not enough IMO.

Next there's a how good is your chess thingamabob. This is a game you start going through and every so often you are given the opportunity to guess the next move. If you're first choice is right you get 3 pts,2nd choice =2pts etc. I think this is a once a week thing too. Also the game is annotated and things are explained. IMO this is better than the tactical exercises.

Next there's a section (can't recall the name) where you look at a position and answer questions about it. You email in your answers and the best answers get posted. I think this is a once a month deal.

There are tips and other data as well.

One negative is that the emails don't always go through :(

It cost me $35 instead of the regular $49 because I signed up in January. I believe this is suppose to last for 52 weeks. Is it worth the money? Right now if I HAD to say "yay" or "nay" I'd vote "nay" Keep in mind this is based on one week's time.

You can find tactical problems all over the web. They're probably not timed but I don't think that's that big of a deal. The annotated game/guess the move seems unique to me.

I have a terrible memory:( I just remembered that they're offering coaching and some e books now. These will be an additional cost. They weren't included in the pre promotion. I probably won't purchase them.

There's definitely some room for improvement. I'm glad they offer a $ back guarantee. I hope the site does well but I wouldn't be shocked if it folded like a cardboard canoe.

Ultimately you have to decide what's best for you.

This How Good Is Your Chess, has been a feature of the UK CHESS magazine for a while now, compiled by GM Daniel King, haven't bought a copy in a while, but it was my favourite article in the mag...
